Franco to test injured wrist on Wednesday

Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia made his long-awaited return on Tuesday from a right hamstring injury that has kept him out of 58 of the last 64 games. Facing the Blue Jays, Pedroia batted second in his first game since July 22.
Mets, Cespedes amend deal ahead of free agency
The Mets no longer need to negotiate with Yoenis Cespedes during a pennant race or risk losing him forever. The team announced Tuesday that it and Roc Nation Sports have negotiated an amendment into Cespedes’ contract, allowing the Mets to pursue him for the entirety of this offseason’s free-agent period.
