With the offense struggling, Marcus Stroman took matters into his own hands and single-handedly gave the Blue Jays a chance to escape with a series victory at Tropicana Field. Stroman celebrated his 25th birthday by providing a present of his own with a career-high nine strikeouts in a 5-1 win over the Rays on Sunday afternoon.

Hamilton shut down after aggravating knee

Josh Hamilton, trying to battle back from left knee problems that kept him out of Spring Training, went 0-for-2 Saturday night but reached on an error in his second at-bat; he was soon doubled off at second but aggravated his knee at some point during his jaunt halfway around the diamond.
