Texas tops A’s to increase AL West lead to two

The Rangers rallied from being down, 4-1, after four innings and came back to defeat the Athletics, 8-6, on Tuesday night at the Coliseum. Mitch Moreland’s two-run home run off Athletics starter Sean Nolin was the big blow on a night when the Rangers took advantage of the Astros’ loss to the Angels and increased their lead to two games in the American League West.

Trout, Pujols power Angels closer to Astros

Mike Trout and Albert Pujols hit back-to-back home runs in the first inning off Astros starter Lance McCullers and made them stand up to give the Angels a much-needed 4-3 win on Tuesday night at Minute Maid Park. With the win, the Angels moved to within 2 1/2 games of the Astros for the second American League Wild Card spot.

Arrieta, Bryant make history in Cubs’ win

Jake Arrieta made history with his 20th win of the season, but Kris Bryant jumped into his spotlight with his record-breaking home run in a 4-0 victory over the Brewers on Tuesday night. The win leaves Chicago two games behind Pittsburgh in the hunt for the NL’s top Wild Card spot but improves its magic number to make the postseason to three.
