Yelich takes unusual path to productivity

Christian Yelich isn’t a player who attracts a whole lot of attention, unless he’s hanging out with his “Saturday Night Live” doppelganger. After all, Yelich plays for the Marlins, overshadowed by high-profile teammates Jose Fernandez and Giancarlo Stanton. But since his debut in July 2013, Yelich has proven to be both productive and remarkably consistent, even at ages 21-23.

Wrigley Field in line to host future All-Star-Game

Commissioner Rob Manfred has Wrigley Field on his radar as the host of a future All-Star Game. The historic ballpark is currently undergoing renovations. But once those upgrades are complete, Manfred said Wrigley Field — which has been the site of three All-Star games in the past (1947, ’62 and ’90) — will become one of the frontrunners in the bidding process.

Indians patiently wait for Brantley’s return

Knowing that Michael Brantley’s comeback from injury could linger into the season, the Indians needed to build up as much outfield depth as possible. A dozen players will be in camp jockeying for potential Opening Day jobs, but the Tribe’s hope is that the April alignment will be a temporary situation aimed at holding down the fort until Brantley is cleared to return.
