Kershaw sets club, MLB marks in 13-K gem

Clayton Kershaw put his name up there above Sandy Koufax with his fifth consecutive start of at least 10 strikeouts and no more than one walk, an MLB record. The fifth consecutive start with at least 10 strikeouts is also a franchise record. On Thursday, Kershaw threw a three-hitter with 13 strikeouts in a 5-0 Dodgers win over the Mets.

Historic outing still sinking in for Scherzer

Nationals right-hander Max Scherzer attended the seventh annual “A Night at the Park,” which was hosted by third baseman Ryan Zimmerman on Thursday night. It’s safe to say that Scherzer is still on cloud nine after striking out a record-tying 20 batters in a 3-2 victory over the Tigers on Wednesday.
