In his earliest days in office, Commissioner Rob Manfred made it clear he wanted time to determine whether the overall decline in offensive production in recent years is an aberration that will self-correct or if the league needs to intervene. And although run production did improve in 2015, an increasing proliferation of strikes in the lower part of the zone means that, for the first time in two decades, serious consideration is being given to a revised definition of the strike zone.
