Cole Hamels grew up in San Diego and still has a passion for surfing. He was a first-round Draft choice of the Phillies in 2002, and he envisioned spending his entire career with the franchise when he signed a seven-year contract that included a club option for 2019. But after being traded to the Rangers, he finds it’s a perfect fit.
