David Ortiz has lost an appeal of his one-game suspension and sat out Friday’s game against the Blue Jays. Ortiz was ejected Sunday for arguing a checked-swing call against Baltimore, and he was disciplined by the league for his vociferous confrontation with home-plate umpire John Tumpane.
