Darvish comes within one out of no-hitter

Rangers ace right-hander Yu Darvish lost his bid for a no-hitter with two outs in the ninth inning of Friday night’s 8-0 win over the Red Sox when David Ortiz hit a clean single to right field through a shift. Darvish became the third pitcher in Major League history to lose two no-hitters with two outs in the ninth; the righty came within one out of a perfect game in his first start last year, against the Astros. In that outing, he gave up a two-out single to Marwin Gonzalez.
