Tigers use late rally to halt Red Sox’s surge

Andrew Romine’s bases-loaded walk off Brad Ziegler completed a three-run Tigers rally in the eighth inning, ending Detroit’s three-game losing streak and Boston’s six-game winning streak with a 4-3 Tigers win Thursday afternoon at Comerica Park.

Hosmer the spark as KC caps sweep at Detroit

Eric Hosmer, not satisfied with breaking up Anibal Sanchez’s bids for a perfect game and later a no-hitter, dealt Detroit a decisive blow with a tiebreaking two-run home run in the ninth, sending Kansas City to a 4-1 win on Wednesday night at Comerica Park. The win handed the Royals their first sweep of the Tigers in Detroit since 2008.

Rangers right-hander Yu Darvish has continually made strides in his endurance this season as he returns from 2015 Tommy John surgery. He checked off another step in his recovery on Wednesday night, throwing a season-high seven-plus innings as the Rangers finished a three-game sweep of the A’s with a 6-2 victory at Globe Life Park.
