Top 10 prospects who could be September callups

Last year was deemed by many to be the “Year of the Prospect,” and for good reason, with elite talent like Kris Bryant, Carlos Correa, Francisco Lindor and Noah Syndergaard not just making it to the big leagues, but excelling. Believe it or not, there is more to come. Here’s a list of the top 10 prospects, some of whom have been up previously, who could get called up — call it part probability, part wish-list — when Major League rosters expand on Sept. 1.

D-backs walk off in 11th after Braves rally in 9th

After blowing a four-run lead in the ninth inning, the D-backs came back to beat the Braves in the 11th, as Brandon Drury drove in the game-winning run on a sacrifice fly in a 10-9 win on Wednesday night at Chase Field. Jake Lamb hit a one-out double to center, advanced to third on a wild pitch, then came home to score the winning run on Drury’s bases-loaded flyout off Braves reliever Jose Ramirez (1-1).

Papi tops 2 lists, but Sox drop the ball

David Ortiz rocked the first pitch he saw from Matt Andriese in the first inning of Wednesday’s 4-3 loss for a home run to right-center field, his 30th of the season. And with Dustin Pedroia on second base, he also recorded his 100th RBI of the year to give Boston a 2-0 lead. Ortiz became the oldest player to reach 30 home runs in a season at 40 years, nine months and six days old. Ortiz, who will retire after this year, is also the only player to record 30 homers and 100 RBIs in each of the past four seasons.
