Indians’ finale vs. White Sox postponed

One of the Indians’ goals for this season was to get off to a hot start in April. Unfortunately, Mother Nature has only offered a cold start — complete with snow, rain and a slew of postponements in the first week of Cleveland’s regular season. It was more of the same on Sunday, when the Tribe had its game against the White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field postponed due to rain.

Velasquez, Phillies blank Mets for first win

The longest-tenured Phillie joined forces with one of his newest teammates on Friday, helping Philadelphia avoid its first 0-5 start to a season in 82 years. Instead, Ryan Howard homered, Vincent Velasquez delivered six shutout innings and the Phillies grabbed a 1-0 win over Bartolo Colon and the Mets.

Choo iffy with right calf strain

The Rangers know they are losing catcher Robinson Chirinos to a fractured right forearm, but they are not sure about outfielder Shin-Soo Choo. Choo was scratched from Saturday night’s 4-1 win over the Angels with a strained right calf muscle. He underwent an MRI but the Rangers are still waiting on the results to see the extent of the injury.
