The A’s trailed the Mariners by a score of 1-0 after seven innings Sunday, when starting pitchers Chris Bassitt and Felix Hernandez exited the game. A battle of bullpens was on, and Oakland’s stepped up to cap a stellar opening week of the season.

Same ol’ Story: Trevor belts 7th blast

Trevor Story has done it again. The Rockies’ shortstop hit his seventh home run in the bottom of the eighth inning of Sunday’s 6-3 win over the Padres, setting the Major League record for most home runs through a team’s first six games of a season. Story’s home run gave Colorado a 5-3 lead.

Mazara capable of filling Choo’s shoes for Rangers

Shin-Soo Who? The Rangers didn’t miss Shin-Soo Choo terribly Sunday, when he went on the disabled list with a strained right calf muscle that is expected to sideline him 4-6 weeks. That’s because his replacement in right field, Nomar Mazara, went 3-for-4 with a home run in his big league debut, accounting for Texas’ only run in a 3-1 loss to the Angels.
