Padres homer four times to rout Mariners

Apparently eager to put a rough road trip behind them, the Padres wasted no time pouncing on Mariners spot starter James Paxton in their return to Petco Park on Wednesday night. They put six runs on the board in the first, kicked the extra point in the second and finished with a 14-6 victory over their Pacific Northwest foes.

Bourn’s spectacular catch shows experience

Given that he’s played 293 career games in the park, Arizona outfielder Michael Bourn might know the cavernous center-field regions of Minute Maid Park better than anyone. He proved it again in Wednesday’s 5-4 loss in 11 innings to the Astros, snagging Marwin Gonzalez’s 411-foot shot on a leaping catch into the wall just beside Tal’s Hill in the second inning.
