The Cubs’ winning streak didn’t last very long. Justin Bour smacked a two-run homer and an RBI double and Giancarlo Stanton drove in three runs to power the Marlins to a 9-6 come-from-behind victory on Saturday over the Cubs, who lost for the fifth time in their last six games.

It was a do-it-all type of late afternoon for Padres starter Drew Pomeranz. Not only did the lefty quiet the Reds for seven innings on the mound, but his time at the plate netted a home run and RBI single during a 3-0 victory on Saturday at Great American Ball Park.

Edwin Encarnacion drove in four runs and Devon Travis added two hits and two RBIs, as the Blue Jays survived a franchise-record-tying seven White Sox home runs — all solo shots — to claim a 10-8 victory Saturday afternoon at U.S. Cellular Field and even this three-game set. It was the third time in history a team hit seven home runs in a loss (also the Tigers of 1995 and 2004).

Another day, another Indians win over the Tigers. Carlos Carrasco threw a four-hit shutout and Cleveland beat Detroit, 6-0, on Saturday at Comerica Park to move to 8-0 on the season against its division rival. The Tribe also won its eighth straight game.

Nationals right-hander Stephen Strasburg will not start Sunday vs. Brewers after his upper back injury flared up. Tanner Roark will start in his place.

Pete Rose, his gaze locked on the near sellout crowd that had packed Great American Ball Park on Saturday afternoon, appeared both happy and, for brief moments, overwhelmed, during the induction ceremony that made him the newest member of the Reds Hall of Fame.
