Right on Target: Stars align at Twins’ home park

It’s regarded as one of baseball’s best parks, and Target Field will be on full display Tuesday night when the game’s best players take the field for the 85th annual All-Star Game. “It’s a big moment,” said Twins manager Ron Gardenhire. “It’s a big thing for us. It’s well-deserved. A lot of people have put a lot of work in here at the stadium.”

Selig helps dedicate renovated Boys & Girls Club

With the help of Major League Baseball, the Twins and the Pohlad Family Foundation, the Jerry Gamble Boys & Girls Club has been completely renovated. Commissioner Bud Selig was on hand Monday to formally dedicate an activities center that now features room for baseball, basketball, volleyball and the performing arts.

Torre signs pledge promoting inclusion in sports

MLB recently made public its partnership with Athlete Ally, a non-profit organization on a mission to educate and activate athletic communities to eliminate homophobia and transphobia in sports and to champion LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) equality. Yogi Berra, behind the support of his museum and learning center, is an ambassador of Athlete Ally, and now another famous Yankee, former manager Joe Torre, has also offered his public endorsement.

Matheny reveals NL All-Star batting order

National League All-Star manager Mike Matheny’s lineup, which features the top votegetters at each position, starts with defending NL MVP and center fielder Andrew McCutchen at the top. McCutchen earned the nod to play center over Milwaukee’s Carlos Gomez, who will shift to left field for this game.
