The Cubs designated 2012 Gold Glove second baseman Darwin Barney for assignment on Tuesday to make room on the roster for Emilio Bonifacio, who was activated from the disabled list. They also optioned left-hander Zac Rosscup to Triple-A Iowa and recalled right-hander Kyle Hendricks.
